Gentlemen & Jack Daniels Surprise 30th Birthday

Throwing a surprise party is never an easy task. It takes careful planning and creative shopping. Especially when you share a bank account! Luckily Eric was none the wiser and the surprise, as well as the party as a whole, was a huge success.
Parties for men can be difficult. They should be unique to their personalities, but not too feminine. That's why I chose a "Gentlemen & Jack Daniels" theme. I utilized a lot of burlap and simple decorations to make it personal, yet masculine. The photo booth, play hats and mustaches, and beer pong table (complete with mustach ping pong balls) were huge hits that made a group of adults feel like kids again. A large portion of the party was going to be in the back yard (that's where the bar and beer pong were set up) after dark, so I made sure to hang some bistro lights and have plenty of candles to help with lighting. It was still pretty warm that evening so I also made sure to use citronella to keep the bugs away.
We kept the menu simple with Jack Daniels meatballs, mini nachos, Jack Daniels pralines, chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, almond cake with chocolate icing, and pizza. The favors were limited to our guests 21 and up and were tiny Jack Daniels bottles tied to old fashioned Coke bottles. There were no leftovers.
The cake was by Cakes4Fun in Mount Pleasant, SC and the cookies were by The Mad Cookier in Tallahassee, FL. All pictures belong to Widener Weddings and should not be reused or copied without our permission.
